My Family History

This is a page of simple notes about my family history. I intend to update it occassionally, as I find time to extend the research. It's all secondary research, at best... linking together various parts of other people's work. Most of the information comes from lineages posted to RootsWeb.com.

About the Barger Family (my father's lineage)

My father, Roger Barger, was born in Centre County, Pennsylvania. His lineage extends from his father, Richard Barger, back to James Clark Barger, born 1860 in Milroy, Mifflin County, Pennsylvania. That line of the family tree is a mystery to me before that. But, other branches extend back, along one branch, to Hans George Rieth, who died at sea in 1710, apparently en route to North America. (Read the details of the first waves of immigration from Palatines [Germany] in 1710. There's also a book.) His son, Johann Leonard Rieth, was born 1691 in Baalborn, Palatinate, Germany, and died Feb. 2, 1747, in Stouchsburg, Berks County, Pennsylvania. Another branch extends all the way back to Zillis von Nuett, born 1385 in Aix-la-Chapell, Germany, and died about 1461 in the same city (a.k.a. Aachen; Germany's westernmost city, bordering Belgium and the Netherlands). Ten generations later, his direct descendant, Johann Phillipp von Nida (born Dec. 17, 1743) moved from Weingarten, Palatinate, Germany, to Union County, Pennsylvania (died there April 18, 1826). Then, the tree from Adam Hennigh's wife, Barbara Vonada back to my great(x7)grandfather, Hans Martin von Nida (Aug. 20, 1671 - Oct. 3, 1756; Fischkingen, Germany) and his wife, Ana Katharina Wolf (d. Feb. 13, 1751, Fischkingen, Germany).
And, from the above Hans Martin von Nida, back to my great(x10)grandfather Johannes von Nuett (1584-1633, Germany) and his wife, Anna Maria Cullman (d. 1616, Germany).
And, from the above Johannes von Nuett, back to my great(x13)grandfather, Heinrich von Nuett (about 1465-1510, Germany; with a son born in Aix-la-Chapell, Germany).
The oldest part of the family tree that I know of extends from the above Heinrich von Nuett, back two more generations, to my great(x15)grandfather, Zillis von Nuett (b. abt. 1385 in Aix-la-Chapell, Germany; d. abt. 1461, Aix-la-Chapell, Germany).
Along another branch, through the above Barbara Vonada and her mother's (Hannah Reed) line is my great(x7)grandfather, Johann Leonard Rieth (b. abt. 1691 Baalborn, Palatinate, Germany; d. Feb. 2, 1747, Stouchsburg, Berks Co., Pennsylvania)...
...and the line from the above Johann Leonard Rieth, to my great(x9)grandfather, Hans Rieth (b. 1630 Palatinate, Germany), whose son, Hans George Rieth, my great(x8)grandfather, was born in Rohrbach, Wuerttemberg, Palatinate, Germany, in January 1652 and is my ancestor who appears to have died at sea, en route to America, in 1710, in the Atlantic Ocean.

About the Hironimus Family (my mother's lineage)

My aunt, Betty McClintock (born Betty Hironimus), has compiled a wonderful family history, which I will reference here, as soon as I have time to post the information.
